Andalucía to digitise bullfighting records from 2027

A new online platform, Andatauro, will bring together information about the region’s bullfighting heritage

Andalucía is to modernise the way bullfighting events are managed by digitising official records from the 2027 season.

The initiative is being led by the Ministry of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, working with the Digital Agency of Andalucía. It forms part of a wider plan to make bullfighting information easier to access, preserve and promote.

The regional government will also launch Andatauro, described as the future official digital platform for information, promotion, management and dissemination of Andalusian bullfighting heritage.

Andatauro will be available online and through a mobile application. It aims to bring together information about events, historical records, administrative management and cultural promotion in one place.

The platform is intended for bullfighting professionals, fans, researchers, media outlets, bullfighting schools, public administrations and the general public.

Andalucía’s First Vice-President and Minister of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, announced the plans at a meeting of the Andalusian Council for Bullfighting Affairs in Seville.

He said the aim was to “adapt bullfighting to new technological possibilities” and improve services for both professionals and followers of the tradition.

“With these initiatives, Andalucía aspires to position itself at the national forefront in the digitisation, conservation and promotion of bullfighting heritage,” Sanz said.

He added that the project would help create “a more accessible and connected bullfighting tradition”, while highlighting the sector’s cultural, touristic and economic importance.

Digitising bullfighting records should make administration more efficient and allow records to be tracked in a clearer, more up-to-date and accessible way.

The regional government says the changes are intended to support the continuity and modernisation of bullfighting, while making it easier for younger audiences to engage with the tradition.

The Andatauro platform will also help promote Andalusian bullfighting heritage more widely, giving researchers, media and enthusiasts a single point of access to relevant information.
