British comedy Benidorm making a comeback after 7-year hiatus
The sitcom’s creator Derren Litten has confirmed he’s once again in talks with ITV

After seven years off air, the outrageous British comedy Benidorm could be making a long-awaited return. The show’s creator, Derren Litten, has confirmed he is in talks with ITV about reviving the hit series that once drew more than eight million viewers.
During a Facebook Live session last week, Litten surprised fans by hinting that a comeback may be on the horizon. While responding to comments from viewers and cast members, the writer addressed long-running rumours about the show’s future, particularly those shared by actress Sherrie Hewson, who Solana hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage.
Derren said: “Sherrie does this rumour every couple of years, and Sherrie says that the show is coming back, and she is not s*** stirring, she is hopeful because she loves the show as much as I do.”
Although he was careful not to make any official announcement, Litten appeared to confirm that discussions with ITV are actively underway.

“If I say ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, it is because ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, up to today. Does it mean they might commission a new series in the near future? Possibly,” he told viewers.
He went on to add, “Have I been talking to ITV in the last few months? Yes I have. Have ITV commissioned a special or a series at the moment? No. Might they in the next few weeks, couple of months? Yeah they might. They might. So I hope that gives you some hope, and I hope that gives you some idea of where we are.”
The live broadcast quickly filled with enthusiastic reactions from fans, many expressing their excitement at the possibility of new episodes.
“Really hope it comes back,” one user commented.
Another simply begged: “Please say yes it’s coming back.”
Last week, several media outlets in the UK reported that ITV bosses were engaged in behind-the-scenes talks to bring the show back, with the goal of reuniting the original cast.

A source revealed, “Benidorm was adored by millions when it was suddenly cancelled. Fans will be thrilled to hear ITV wants to bring it back. An 11th series hasn’t been commissioned yet, but there’s major excitement building as early talks begin.”
The source also confirmed that producers have been reaching out to the show’s stars, with hopes that a decision could be made later this year.
Benidorm ran for ten series from 2007 to 2018 and became a staple of British comedy TV, known for its raucous humour and larger-than-life characters. However, declining ratings eventually led to its cancellation.
Just last year, Litten appeared to dismiss the idea of a reboot but now, his latest remarks suggest the tides may be turning - perhaps not for a full series just yet, but possibly for a long-awaited special.
