Concern as large billboards appear on vacant Camposol land plots
Company explain intentions for Camposol land plots as social media speculation hits fever pitch
Since Thursday April 18, when two ground moving machines started work on undeveloped land plots (officially known as ‘polígonos’) on the Camposol urbanisation, with 3 areas on Sector C being fenced off, speculation has been running rife regarding future development of the various pieces of land.
Some of these plots have been utilised by local residents as sports and social areas with garden landscapes, petanca courts and barbeques installed.
At the same time on Sector D, a Fench gentleman indentifying himself as the owner of polígonos D30 and D33 told local neighbours that, although he was not immediately going to start work on the land, he would be at some time, at which point the facilities would have to be removed. This prompted some the local community groups and associatons to make a joint application to Mazarrón Council to move the facilities to council owned land with a sports designation next to the existing football and exercise area. This was agreed and the facilities and related furniture were relocated.
Then, to add to the conjecture on Monday July 8, large billboards were erected on the fenced off areas C9 and C11, to the north of what is commonly described as the front of the currently closed Sensol Hotel and C13 to the south or rear of the Hotel. These billboards were soon adorned with posters advertising development company ‘Victoria Playa Group’.
Many people again took to social media to voice their opinions with some stating that the land was for sale others that Mazarrón Council had sold the land to this company, which is erroneous as none of this land is or ever has been Mazarrón Council’s to sell.
The Camposol Business Association contacted the Victoria Playa Group and a spokesperson confirmed that the fenced off areas of land concerned did belong to the company and there were no plans to sell the plots. The spokesperson went on to say that the plan was to develop the land but this would not be for some time as the company was committed to finishing two developments in Denia and Torre de la Horadada first, both in the province of Alicante.
The time scale was not known and could be 1 or 2 years or more. The type of properties proposed was not known but would comply with existing planning stipulations. Currently all the plots concerned are designated for residential dwellings.
The development of these and other plots will generate planning permits, licence and other associated fees plus bank guarantees all of which Mazarron Council have stated will be utilised towards the completion of the public infrastructure of the urbanisation. Mazarrón Council are in the process of taking over as developer of the public infrastucture, a procedure that includes the notification operation currently being carried out and will be moving on to the next sector shortly.
