Cádiz's bold new port project to feature stunning underwater exhibits and concert venue
A new cultural hub with a state-of-the-art auditorium and an Atlantic-themed experience centre is set to transform Cádiz’s waterfront

A new vision for the Port of Cádiz
The project, led by the Womack Group in collaboration with Icaria Atelier, will occupy nearly 20,000 square meters, split between two major cultural spaces:
- The Atlantic Immersive Interpretation Centre, an interactive museum focused on the history, biodiversity, and significance of the Atlantic Ocean
- The Atlantic Auditorium, a versatile live performance venue with 1,200 indoor seats and an outdoor capacity of up to 5,000 spectators
According to architect José Carlos Conde, the development is designed to “reinforce the cultural offering for the inhabitants of Cádiz, with a new, unique and innovative stage space”.
What will the museum feature?

The Atlantic Immersive Interpretation Centre will offer a cutting-edge visitor experience, combining technology, history and education. Highlights include:
- Three themed experience zones showcasing the Atlantic’s biodiversity, history, and cultural significance
- A virtual reality (VR) exhibition space for fully immersive storytelling
- An accessible swimming pool designed to recreate an underwater archaeological site, offering a hands-on educational experience for visitors
- A rooftop restaurant with stunning sea views, connected to open terraces
Additionally, the project will feature underwater sculptures, adding a unique artistic and ecological dimension to the museum.
A major boost for live entertainment
The Atlantic Auditorium will cater to a wide range of events, from concerts to theatrical performances. The stage design allows for both indoor and open-air performances, creating a flexible space that can accommodate up to 5,000 spectators for large-scale outdoor shows. This is expected to resolve long-standing debates over summer concert venues in Cádiz, providing a permanent and well-equipped location for major events.
With direct links to major transport hubs, including the nearby Renfe train station and the city’s ring road, the new cultural complex will be easily accessible for locals and tourists alike. It is also set to become a key attraction for cruise ship passengers, offering a must-visit cultural and entertainment experience within walking distance of the port.
By integrating education, entertainment, and heritage preservation, this visionary project will breathe new life into the Cádiz waterfront, creating an exciting new space for locals and visitors to explore, learn and enjoy.
