Terrazas de la Torre Golf Resort Today
Terrazas de la Torre Golf Resort introduction
Terrazas de la Torre, also known as “Saurines de la Torre”, was opened as recently as 2010, built by the Polaris World developer. This was one of the resorts started at the end of the property boom, and along with Condado de Alhama, has not been completed to its full original spec, although the superb golf course is fully open and functional, offering not only a challenge for golfers but also beautiful views for spectators.
The undulating fairways and greens make for a striking contrast with the flat dry countryisde outside the resort, an oasis in a desert dotted with other similar projects, including the elder sister of this one, La Torre Golf Resort, just a couple of miles away, a fully completed resort with a raft of facilities.
As things stand at the moment (summer 2013) about half of the planned properties have been built, and construction is under way on some of the later phases. This inevitably leads to a lower occupation rate than on the completed resorts, and thus logically, to less facilities, indeed it could be said that the desert theme of the golf course is reflected on the rest of the resort.
Streets and roundabouts have been named after sportsmen and women who have won the Príncipe de Asturias Sports prize, and as a result it is possible to report that while Arantxa Sánchez Vicario is fairly well inhabited, there is currently nobody living in Sebastian Coe or Martina Navratilova.
A supermarket meets basic shopping needs and there are restaurant facilities, but fortunately there are many options available off-resort, although this does make a hire car mandatory for visitors.
However, the resort is centrally located, and has good connections to the nearby San Javier airport ( 20 mins) and Alicante airport ( 1 hour) as well as the many beaches of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean coastline (20 minutes) and the major cities of Cartagena and Murcia ( each 30 minutes).
The resort offers a choice of 1, 2 and 3 bedroomed apartments. Out of the originally planned 6-7 phases of properties, Phase One has been 100% completed and phase two approx 80%. The area known as La Isla (The Island) which offers water views on three sides and includes apartments on three levels is approximately 50% completed. Sale prices reflect the lower occupation, offering a lot of bricks per euro compared to some of the other resorts.
