Lorry full of live pigs overturns on Murcia's A-7 dual carriageway
The road has been closed near Librilla due to the accident
A man was injured this Tuesday May 13 when the lorry full of live pigs he was driving overturned on the A-7 motorway in the municipality of Librilla, going in the direction of Almería, according to the regional emergency services.
A dozen calls alerted the Emergency Coordination Centre of the accident, which took place at around 8.41am at kilometre 589 of the A-7.
Witnesses reported that the accident took place after a wheel of the vehicle burst. As a result, the live pigs that the lorry was carrying were let loose all over the road.
A Mobile Emergency Unit (UME) was sent to the scene with medical staff from 061 to attend to the driver, who was taken to hospital for treatment.
The lorry was stuck in the middle of the two lanes of the dual carriageway going in the direction of Almería, causing a traffic jam stretching back more than 5 miles.
