Teulada gets tough on illegal motorhome parking in Alicante

New measures aim to control unauthorised camping and protect the environment in Teulada Moraira

In response to increasing issues with unauthorised motorhome parking and environmental concerns, the Town Hall of Teulada Moraira, in Alicante, has introduced measures to better regulate motorhome parking within the municipality. These actions address the extensive use of public car parks and private lands by motorhomes for camping purposes, which has led to environmental damage from illegal waste disposal.

To combat these problems, the town council is revising the municipal ordinance – a set of local laws governing public spaces – to provide the Local Police with enhanced legal tools that will enable more effective action against illegal parking and camping, including the implementation of sanctions when necessary.

Additionally, height-restricting frames will be installed at the entrances of municipal car parks in Teulada Moraira to limit access to vehicles exceeding a certain height, ensuring these areas are used as intended.

Town Mayor Raúl Llobell emphasised the importance of these initiatives, stating, "Our objective is to guarantee the proper use of public spaces in which all types of vehicles can coexist in a legal manner, with respect and preservation of the environment."

The mayor also reminded motorhome users that specific, regulated areas are designated for parking and camping, equipped with necessary services. He urged adherence to existing regulations to maintain harmony and environmental integrity within the community.

These steps reflect Teulada's commitment to preserving its natural surroundings while accommodating diverse vehicle users responsibly.
